Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 23, 2026
BrainBlitz is an iOS and Android app that trains reading speed and focus with guided RSVP drills and eye-movement exercises. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following data to operate the app:
- Device identifier (install ID) — a per-install identifier used to attribute usage analytics and to manage your subscription entitlement. It is not linked to your real identity.
- Reading-level selection — the reading level you pick during setup is stored on your device and sent, together with your install identifier, only at the moment you request practice passages, so the backend can generate passages at the right difficulty. It is not a name or contact detail.
- Crash & diagnostic data — technical error and performance reports, shared with a third-party crash-monitoring provider solely to detect and fix problems.
- Subscription status — whether your install has an active subscription.
- Email address (only if you subscribe on the web) — if you choose the web checkout, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your email to manage that subscription. The app itself does not ask you for an email to train.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- You can use BrainBlitz without creating an account or giving us your name. We do not require an email to train, and we do not collect your contacts, location, photos, camera, or microphone. Your reading history, WPM scores, and progress stay on your device. We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising, and the passages you read are not stored on our servers.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not use the device’s advertising identifier. We have not implemented any App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track you.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Device identifier — to attribute usage analytics to an install and to recognize your subscription across sessions.
- Reading-level selection — sent transiently with each passage request so the backend generates passages at your chosen difficulty; it is not stored on our servers as a profile.
- Crash & diagnostic data — to diagnose and fix errors and improve stability.
- Email (web checkout only) — used by Stripe to manage a web subscription; we never see or store your payment card details.
4. Third-Party Services
The app relies on the following third-party services:
- App store billing — subscriptions are billed and managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; a web subscription, when chosen, is billed by Stripe, which collects your email and card details directly. We never see or store your payment card details.
- Passage generation (Google Cloud) — your reading-level selection and install identifier are sent to our backend, which uses a Google Cloud service to generate practice passages. The request is processed transiently and is not stored.
- Crash-monitoring provider — a third-party service that receives crash and diagnostic reports to help us fix errors. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Google Cloud — hosts our backend, which handles passage generation, anonymous usage analytics, and your entitlement so your subscription works across sessions. Communication uses HTTPS.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Your reading history, WPM scores, progress, and reading-level preference are stored locally on your device.
- Your entitlement is associated with an anonymous install identifier on our backend so your subscription is recognized. All communication uses HTTPS.
6. App Permissions
The app may request the following device permissions:
- Local storage — to keep your reading history, scores, and reading-level preference on your device.
- Secure on-device storage — to cache your entitlement state on your device.
- StoreKit / Google Play Billing — for the subscription; we never see your payment details.
7. Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Rights
- Because BrainBlitz does not require an account, the data tied to you is the entitlement and diagnostic data associated with your install identifier. You can request deletion of it from inside the app (Settings → Delete account), or from our web deletion page if you no longer have the app installed.
- 30-day soft-delete window: after you request deletion, the data associated with your install is scheduled for permanent removal in 30 days. During that window you can cancel deletion. After 30 days it is irreversible.
- Subscriptions: Apple App Store and Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled from your device's Settings → Subscriptions; we cannot cancel them for you. If you subscribed via Stripe (web), deletion will set your subscription to cancel at the end of the current billing period.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
