Privacy Policy

Big Volume Booster — Sound Amplifier & Audio Booster ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that boosts the audio volume of the tab you are listening to using the Web Audio API. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the Extension:
- Email address — provided voluntarily when you subscribe or verify a subscription. Used solely to check your subscription status with Stripe.
- Usage count — a numeric counter of how many times you have used the Extension, stored locally in your browser via
chrome.storage.sync.
- Subscription status — whether your email has an active Stripe subscription, cached locally to reduce API calls.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not record, transmit, or store any audio. The extension only adjusts playback gain locally in your browser.
- We do not collect browsing history, cookies, or any data from pages other than the web pages where you choose to boost the volume and our own payment success page.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party tracking services.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Email — sent to our server only to verify your subscription status via the Stripe API. We do not store your email on our servers; it is used transiently for the API lookup.
- Usage count — used locally to determine whether the free tier limit has been reached. Never transmitted to any server.
- Subscription cache — stored locally to avoid checking Stripe on every use. Refreshed periodically (every 7 days).
4. Third-Party Services
The Extension integrates with the following third-party services:
- Stripe — for payment processing and subscription management. When you subscribe, Stripe collects your payment information directly. We never see or store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
- Google Cloud Functions — our server-side endpoints that verify subscription status. These endpoints receive only your email address and return a yes/no subscription status. No data is logged or stored beyond standard Cloud Functions request logs (IP address, timestamp), which are automatically deleted per Google Cloud's retention policies.
5. Data Storage and Security
- All user preferences and subscription data are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in
chrome.storage.sync API, which is encrypted and synced across your Chrome instances by Google.
- Server-side communication uses HTTPS exclusively.
- We do not maintain any user database. Stripe is the sole system of record for subscription data.
6. Permissions Explained
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab — to act on the current tab only when you click the extension.
- storage — to persist your usage count and subscription status locally.
- tabs — to detect when you land on the payment-success page so we can unlock the Pro features.
- scripting — to run the feature on the page you are viewing when you invoke it.
7. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Rights
- You can clear all Extension data at any time by right-clicking the Extension icon → "Remove from Chrome" or by clearing your browser data.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time through Stripe's customer portal or by contacting us.
- You can request deletion of any data associated with your email by contacting us at the address below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
