Aster — Daily Horoscope is an iOS and Android app that generates personalized daily horoscope readings grounded in your real natal chart. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following data to operate the app:

• Email address — collected during onboarding as your identity for personalized readings and to check your subscription entitlement.
• Birth data (date, time, and birthplace) — you provide this so the app can compute your natal chart. It is stored on your device; a summary of the resulting chart and the current date are sent to our backend only at the moment you request a reading.
• Approximate (city-level) birth location — derived from the birthplace you enter to compute the chart. This is not your live GPS location.
• Device identifier (install ID) — a per-install identifier used to attribute usage analytics and to manage your subscription entitlement.
• Crash & diagnostic data — technical error and performance reports, shared with a third-party crash-monitoring provider solely to detect and fix problems.
• Subscription status — whether your account has an active subscription.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not store your natal chart, birth data, or reading history on our servers, and we do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising. Your chart and reading history live on your device (with optional iCloud sync to your own Apple ID devices). When you request a reading, a summary of your chart and today's date are sent transiently to generate the reading text; that request is not stored server-side.
• We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not use the device’s advertising identifier. We have not implemented any App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track you.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Email — to identify you, personalize your readings, manage your account, and check your subscription entitlement.
• Birth data & chart summary — to compute your natal chart and generate your daily reading. The chart summary is sent transiently at reading time and is not stored on our servers.
• Device identifier — to attribute usage analytics to an install and to manage your entitlement.
• Crash & diagnostic data — to diagnose and fix errors and improve stability.

4. Third-Party Services

The app relies on the following third-party services:

• App store billing — subscriptions are billed and managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; a web subscription, when offered, is billed by Stripe. We never see or store your payment card details.
• AI reading generation (Google Cloud) — a summary of your chart and the current date are sent to our backend, which uses a Google Cloud AI service to generate the reading text. The request is processed transiently and is not stored.
• Crash-monitoring provider — a third-party service that receives crash and diagnostic reports to help us fix errors. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
• Google Cloud — hosts our backend, which stores your account and entitlement so your subscription works across devices. Communication uses HTTPS.

5. Data Storage and Security

• Your natal chart and reading history are stored on your device; you can optionally sync them across your own Apple ID devices via iCloud, where Apple is the custodian.
• Your account (email and entitlement state) is stored on our backend (Google Cloud) so your subscription works across your devices.
• All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS.

6. App Permissions

The app may request the following device permissions:

• Local storage — to keep your natal chart and reading history on your device.
• iCloud sync — optional; syncs your reading history across your own Apple ID devices (Apple is the custodian, not us).
• StoreKit / Google Play Billing — the app store's subscription management; we never see your payment details.

7. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Rights

• You can delete your account at any time from inside Aster: open Settings → Delete account. We also accept deletion requests at our web deletion page if you no longer have the app installed.
• 30-day soft-delete window: after you request deletion, your account, entitlement state, and any data associated with your email are scheduled for permanent removal in 30 days. During that window you can sign back into Aster to cancel deletion at any time. After 30 days the deletion is irreversible.
• What we retain after deletion: truly anonymous aggregate counters (e.g. monthly active users by sun-sign cohort). These contain no identifier that could re-identify you. We retain billing records for the period required by tax law; those contain only invoice details, not your chart or reading history.
• Subscriptions: Apple App Store and Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled from your device's Settings → Subscriptions; we cannot cancel them for you. If you subscribed via Stripe (web), deletion will set your subscription to cancel at the end of the current billing period.
• You can edit your birth data any time in Settings → Edit birth data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
